The VCS-1 is a vacuum pump system designed for use with our Vacu-CellTM perfusion chambers. The pump draws a vacuum of approximately -20 inches Hg and it fitted with a Luer-lock port for easy connectivity to standard tubing systems. The Model VCS-1 vacuum pump assembly is approximately 8.4 (width) x 8.0 (depth) x 5.8 (height) inches in size and it includes a vacuum gauge and a vacuum control valve.
The VCS-1 vacuum pump system is recommended for use with our Vacu-CellTM chambers. The included vacuum gauge is a good indicator of a good seal between the o-rings and the coverslip. The VCS-1 contains an internal vacuum reservoir that can hold a vacuum in the chamber when the control valve is switched to "Hold". When this valve is set to "Hold" the vacuum between the perfusion chamber and the internal reservoir is isolated from the vacuum pump. This allows the experimenter to shut the power off to the VCS-1 and move it to another location without breaking the vacuum seal. When this valve is set to "Vacuum", the perfusion chamber is connected to both the vacuum pump and the reservoir. When this valve is set to "Bleed", the perfusion chamber is connected to room air allowing the vacuum seal to be broken and the coverslip released.
